A coordinator by nature, a pioneer by ambition, a motivator by requirement and a student by default.
My habitat is jozi and my home Estcourt (which lies between Ladysmith and Pietermaritzburg in Kwa-Zulu Natal for the people that don’t know). I am a Muslim, student, motorcyclist, technologically inclined and business educated. My interests are as diverse as my country’s culture and include everything from computers and psychology to stocks markets and mechanics. I enjoy tweaking gadgets, riding, playing games, reading business news or finding new things to learn or improve in. My main qualifications reside in the technical, focused on technology where I happily look for better ways to generate business value.
My full name is Muzaffar Loot, but most people call me Zaffy (which is a separate story).
I possess an affinity to bridge the divide between the technical & the practical. To explore facets of the world, in providing myself a platform to recognize, connect people, process and systems for sustainable progress and practical success.
Educated in tech and experience in app/ web development, IT management and technology strategy. I am able to advise, manage and scope technology implementations. To understand the deeper consequences of vendor contracts, proposed technical enhancements to systems and the business/ financial consequences of an initiative. I enjoy tech and the way minimum investment can produce maximum benefit in the right context.
Exposure to FMCG, retail, NGO, financial Services, research and publishing businesses coupled with an MBA has developed my appreciation for; and opened doors for me to re-engineer operating models, develop and introduce new products across a variety of industries. I have a passion for business models and am often involved in connecting people with resources and ideas to reinvent them.
Connecting people for me is a “1 + 1 =5 game”, where the sum of value generated by the honest connection of competent people at the right time, is worth considerably more than the individual genius of one person. I seek to connect people and resources, if I do know a person or firm who can help, and is willing. I am delighted to connect the dots.
